Republican George Moraitis announced an endorsement from Congressman Greg Steube (R-Sarasota) as he looks to win Florida’s 23rd Congressional District election against a formidable democratic opponent next November. Moraitis, a former state House representative, is facing off against Jared Moskowitz, who has represented the district since 2023.
“As a fellow veteran, conservative, and public servant, I am honored to endorse George Moraitis for Congress in Florida’s 23rd District,” Steube said in a release.
Moraitis declared his run for CD 23 in March. The district covers parts of Broward County and southern Palm Beach County.
Born in Fort Lauderdale, Moraitis graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and served in the United States Navy. He later started a law career and is the father of two daughters.
“George is a United States Navy veteran, a former state lawmaker, a devoted husband and father, and a true leader in his community,” Steube said. “Throughout his service in the Florida House of Representatives, George consistently fought for our conservative values — defending individual freedoms, supporting our military and law enforcement, and promoting responsible governance.”
Steube added that Moraitis’ background as a Navy Officer would also be an asset to Congress in Washington, citing his “discipline, leadership, and love of country.”
“George understands the sacrifices that come with serving our nation, and he brings that same dedication to everything he does — whether it’s raising his family, working to strengthen his community, or standing up for what’s right in public office,” Steube said.
According to a previous report, Moraitis has raised nearly $380,000 in his congressional race, including $120,000 in the second quarter of the year.
“At a time when our nation is facing serious challenges, we need proven conservatives who won’t back down,” Steube said. “George Moraitis has the experience, the integrity, and the backbone to get the job done in Congress.”
