A proud patriot and dedicated public servant, George Moraitis brings a wealth of experience from a distinguished career in the U.S. Navy, private sector and as a former State Representative. Born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, George is a graduate of Fort Lauderdale High School, the United States Naval Academy and the University of Florida College of Law.
As a Submarine officer aboard the USS Minneapolis-St. Paul (SSN 708), he honed his leadership skills and qualified as Submarine Warfare officer and Naval Nuclear Propulsion Engineer. After two successful patrols in the North Atlantic, George served as a Submarine Planning and Operations officer with the U.S. Sixth Fleet and Submarine Group 8 in the Mediterranean, contributing to crucial anti-submarine warfare operations and the Kosovo campaign. His outstanding service in the Navy earned him the Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Arctic Service Ribbon, Kosovo Campaign Medal, and NATO Medal.
After transitioning to the Navy Reserve in 1999, George continued to serve with honor and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, retiring in 2012. His commitment to the nation and its values drives his mission to serve the people and uphold the principles that make America great.
Today, George is a partner with the law firm of Moraitis, Karney, Moraitis, & Quailey where he practices primarily in the areas of real estate, probate, and estate planning.
George has been married to Heather Thompson Moraitis for 30 years, and they are active members of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church where George serves as an Elder. They have two daughters, Alexis and Catherine, who both graduated from Westminster Academy in Fort Lauderdale. George served as State Representative for the northeast portion of Broward County and southeast Palm Beach County in the legislature from 2010 until 2018. George also served as the Chairman of the Broward Republican Party from 2017-2020.
